Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

We see a great future ahead of us. Critical to achieving this will be our shared investment in you, our newest class of automation controls professionals. This program incorporates finely tuned classroom education, professional mentoring and practical work experience. Your safe, world-class development is crtically important. The Automation Intern is an entry-level, or, junior Control Associate who works alongside experienced Controls Technicians. You will have the opportunity to observe and participate in multiple projects (or one large project with diversity of work). A mentor will be assigned to you who is either a Manager or experienced Technician on the Controls Team. This mentor will have the primary responsibility for planning your day-to-day workload and overseeing your performance. They will also help you connect the dots that exist between your technical education and the factory floor. This is important since our Automation Interns are enrolled students pursuing a degree or certificate in an electrical or mechanical type program, and who are able to work at least 16 hours per week as an intern.

Technical support for the safe operation of plant electrical infrastructure, safety systems, control systems, variable frequency drives and operator interfaces.

Provide calibration and tuning services.

Provide support for systems, safety, security, policy, procedure, and drawing integrity.

Support corporate and division Engineering and IT personnel with maintenance and installation of plant and corporate controls initiatives.

Adhere to all Safety and NPPC manufacturing systems guidelines.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):

Education:  High School Diploma/GED. Enrolled in a technical program.

Experience (Years/Type):  Fundamental knowledge of electronics, electricity, and electrical trouble shooting.  Exposure to and working knowledge of automation systems, and plant power distribution preferred.

Skills:  Good oral and written communication skills.  Must be familiar with Electrial Test Equipment and Network Test Equipment.
