Since 1997, our King William factory has been a major producer of the nation’s cat litter supply. Located on Tidy Cat Road just 25 miles northeast of Richmond, our 40-acre plant site is built adjacent to a 486-acre clay mine, so we’re able to efficiently and effectively mine, process, package, and ship raw material and finished product from the same facility. We are a Continuous Operation, with alternative shift options to mass produce both our conventional and clumping cat litter that supplies the mid-Atlantic region with nearly a third of a million tons annually—and over half a million tons by 2016. 

For 50 years, brands like Tidy Cats® have combined the highest quality ingredients and science to even the most disposable products. The 70’s advanced into microencapsulated deodorant, by the 90’s we were clumping and scooping, and in 2000 we introduced Crystals® made from silica gel, and designed to last 30 days between changes. Innovation continues today. In 2013, Purina revolutionized the cat litter category, producing LightWeight® litter, which has all the strength, but only half the weight of conventional litter. These and future innovations have created demand that our King William, VA plant is proud to meet. 

As the Financial Accounting Manager, you’ll be responsible for the overall management of the financial, material and accounting functions at the plant level. In addition, you will ensure there is compliance with generally accepted accounting principles with emphasis placed on upholding company policy and Nestlé operating standards.  


Budgeting, Reporting, and Financial Analysis
Coordinate and maintain the plant budget and budgeting process 
Input the plant budget in SAP and analyze it monthly to resolve or report any discrepancies
Prepare bi-monthly forecasts for plant management and the Finance Divisional Controller
Prepare and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly and year to date cost reports
Perform monthly general ledger closing activities in SAP including journal entries
Monitor actual budget performance vs. plan and report monthly and year to date results including variance analysis
Prepare ad-hoc analysis as needed

Inventory and Fixed Assets
Evaluate and coordinate timely closures of approved capital related expenses according to Nestlé operating standards to ensure accurate reporting
Perform financial analysis and post completion audits on capital projects selected by corporate
Manage the plant fixed asset program and administer programs to ensure safeguarding of plant assets    
Performs other activities as directed by the Controller or Plant Management

  • Bachelor’s degree, with an emphasis in finance or accounting preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience of general accounting, cost accounting, operations controls, budgeting, financial and/or variance analysis
  • 3+ years’ experience in SAP or another relevant Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • 3+ years’ experience managing or leading a team
