Weekend QA Analyst II - Bacti Lab.
This is a salaried non-exempt position. The position will work 3 ~ 12 hour days which include Saturday & Sunday, however, you must be open and available to work all shifts.

The position of Factory Quality Analyst II (Microbiology is essential to all aspects of developing, implementing, managing, reviewing, revising and enforcing the Pathogen Monitoring Program (PMP). The proper management of the PMP at the factory is critical to HACCP compliance and is considered a HACCP pre-requisite program (PRP). This position requires a well-trained individual with a broad understanding of HACCP, food safety principles, microbiology, environmental zoning, sanitation principles and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
~ Perform all microbiological analysis as per Nestle Purina requirements and approved procedures including all sampling, preparation of samples, reading results and confirmatory work. Analysis includes but is not limited to Enterobacteriaceae (EB), Salmonella (S), Total Plate Count (TPC), Yeast and Mold (Y&M). Perform investigational and routine samples as needed.
~ Perform microbiological testing associated with participation in laboratory collaborative program including any corrective action requirements in alignment with corporate policy.
~ Provide analysis and results to plant practices by participating in cleaning validation and verification activities.
~ Perform effectiveness of cleaning verifications prior to production start-up
~ Manage stock-status control of finished product, ensuring that product receives correct Usage Decision. Manage T-Bins and orphan pallets to prevent undue production delays.
~ Complete hold notices by performing necessary sampling and testing.
~ Be primary contact for the factory Pathogen Monitoring Program (PMP) including development, implementation and adaptation. Maintain Factory Profile Tool (FPT), Bacti Data Editor (BDE) and conduct trend analysis associated with PMP program.
~ Provide assistance, with cross functional working groups, for corrective action and root cause analysis (as required) for out of specification PMP results. Provide support to other functions in relation to PMP and microbiological aspects.
~ Maintain and administer Internal Control Plan (ICP), QMS and associated Procedures for microbiology laboratory and PMP program.
~ Serve as a Release Agent for Finished Product.
~ Ensure a process for management of all records, required by NPP policies, regulatory organizations and laws, pertaining to microbiological testing at the factory.
~ Develop and present employee-training topics relative to Pathogen Monitoring Program and microbiological requirements.
~ Assumes all other duties as assigned by reporting Manager/Team Leader.
~ Conduct Aflatoxin and Vomitoxin tests/verifications as needed.
~ Must have the ability to come to work in a timely and consistent manner.

~ Must complete work on time and be able to meet deadlines as necessary.
~ Must be able to work under routine stress as dictated by the job requirements/responsibilities.
~ Must be able to work weekends and off-shifts when required.
Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Biology or related discipline (preferred) or HS Diploma or GED and a minimum of 2 years Microbiology/Laboratory/QA work experience in food manufacturing setting.
Candidate must have strong communication and organizational skills.
If degreed – Can be hired directly out of school.
Non-degreed – minimum 2 years laboratory experience
